Crews with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District battled two separate fires Monday night. Crews responded to reports of a residential structure fire around 9:49 p.m. on 3105 Pope Avenue in Arden-Arcade, the fire district said.
Firefighters arrived to find a well-involved garage fire threatening the rest of the home. Crews began to attack the fire before searching the home to ensure no one was inside. The fire was contained and prevented from spreading, officials said.
According to the fire district, the homeowner was in the home when he heard an unusual noise. He went to the garage to investigate and found the garage on fire before calling law enforcement and evacuating the home. No one was injured in the incident.
The same night, crews also responded to reports of a commercial structure fire at the Extra Space Storage facility near 28th Street and Elkhorn Boulevard in Rio Linda. Firefighters arrived to find a storage unit heavily on fire. Crews attacked the fire, containing it to three storage units and preventing it from spreading throughout the facility. No injuries were reported, the fire district said.
