The Manhattan Beach Police Department said it’s looking into a reported attempted kidnapping, it said on Tuesday.
A Nextdoor user made a post on the platform sharing an encounter with their 9-year-old son, who was playing tag with his friends near Sand Dune Park. During the game, the child was near the bottom of the hill when the driver of a red vehicle stopped near him and attempted to push the boy into the car, according to the post.
The boy fought back by screaming and kicking, prompting the driver to give up and take off in his vehicle.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department confirmed it’s aware of the report and said officers are actively looking into the matter.
A detailed description of the man was not available from police, but the online post described the assailant as a man who wore dark sunglasses and a black hoodie.
