Spark Social canceled its remaining World Cup watch parties in San Francisco after two people were shot and wounded Tuesday night near the Mission Bay venue, the business said Wednesday.
The popular outdoor food-truck park said it will remain open for regular business, including dining, reservations, family activities and scheduled programming, but games will not be broadcast.
“In the interest of protecting the safety of our guests, staff, vendors, and community, we have made the decision to discontinue public World Cup viewing events for the remainder of the tournament,” the venue said.
San Francisco police said officers responded around 9:11 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Mission Bay Boulevard after reports of a shooting. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds and provided aid until paramedics took them to a hospital, police said. Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
Police said a man fired a gun after a verbal altercation and fled. No arrests had been announced as of Wednesday morning.
The shooting occurred on the same block as Spark Social SF, where World Cup fans had gathered Tuesday for watch parties and DJ sets.
Spark Social, at 601 Mission Bay Boulevard North, had been listed by the Bay Area Host Committee as a 2026 World Cup watch-party site scheduled to broadcast tournament matchups through July 19.
The venue said Wednesday the tournament had been “an incredible opportunity to bring people together.”
“Seeing our parks filled with the joy, pride, and connection these games inspire has truly been a privilege,” Spark Social said.
