Dear readers,
After 40 fulfilling years as a full-time newshound, it’s time for me to sign off and ride into the sunset of retirement.
The July 2 issue is my last as editor of the La Jolla Light, which I joined in April 2020, just after the onset of the pandemic, when most gatherings were shut down and the term “working remotely” entered the common lexicon.
For many, the latter never really changed — one of the many ways the world and our corner of it in La Jolla are different now than they were six-plus years ago.
Despite the rather tumultuous beginning to my time here, it’s been a total pleasure and I’ve enjoyed communicating and working with so many of you.
But now it’s time for my wife and I to embark on a full-time adventure in New Hampshire, where we can be in-person grandparents, close to our son and his family.
I’m confident the Light will continue to be a reliable source of information and enjoyment for the La Jolla community.
I want to thank the staff at the Light, everyone at the Union-Tribune and especially all of you who have supported the Light through your readership and advertising.
