What started as a smoke investigation turned into a first-alarm fire in Sacramento.
Sacramento Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of Alamos Avenue, but when firefighters arrived, they found a trailer in the backyard of a home fully involved in flames.
Sacramento Fire Captain Justin Sylvia said the blaze quickly spread to a garage connected to a nearby living unit and threatened multiple outbuildings. A boat burned, a motorcycle caught fire, and flames spread to grass and fencing. A neighboring house also sustained minor scorching.
Firefighters experienced access and water supply challenges during fire fight because parked vehicles blocked access around fire engines. Once crews go the hose lines deployed in the backyard, Sylvia the fire was knocked down quickly.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters also rescued two 6-foot boa snakes from the property and returned them to their owner. Overall, the fire impacted five properties, according to Sacramento Fire.
According to Sylvia, witnesses reported hearing what sounded like fireworks before the fire. Fire officials said investigators are interviewing witnesses, gathering possible surveillance video and working to determine the cause of the fire.
