The Encinitas Rotary Club awarded a $2,000 grant to support the construction of a basketball court in the community of Panabaj, Guatemala. The project will provide a safe and dedicated recreational space for approximately 50 students ages 13 and older.
Panabaj is a highly marginalized community with limited government support and currently lacks formal recreational facilities. The new court is expected to serve as an important resource for youth engagement, physical activity, and community development, a news release states.
