Update: A mother and daughter who went missing after going for a hike on a difficult trail in San Bernardino County’s San Gorgonio Wilderness have been found “alive and well,” the sheriff’s department announced Friday. Original story below.
A mother and daughter are missing after going for a hike Thursday on a difficult trail through the San Gorgonio Wilderness in San Bernardino County.
Krystal Meyers, 41, was hiking with her daughter, Alexis Meyers Martinez, 21, on the Vivian Creek Trail but never returned, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Their last known location was at the 10,300-foot elevation above the High Creek switchbacks at 11 a.m. Thursday, according to the Department’s news release shared by the San Gorgonio Search and Rescue Team.
Krystal is described as a white female, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Alexis, also described as a white female, stands about 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. She has black hair.

The Vivian Creek Trail is widely considered one of the more strenuous and hazardous routes in the San Gorgonio Wilderness.
The U.S. Forest Service describes it as the shortest and steepest route to the summit of Mount San Gorgonio, requiring experienced mountaineering skills.
