BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Early on Jan. 4, 2022, a woman asleep at home felt a tapping on her chest.
She opened her eyes to a shocking sight — a naked man standing in her bedroom. He told her to move over.
She screamed and the intruder bolted out a sliding glass door, but immediately reentered and demanded she perform a sex act, according to a report filed by sheriff’s investigators.
Yelling for her roommate to call 911, the woman pushed the man away and he fled for good. Deputies arrived and couldn’t find him.
But, armed with a description, they conducted a search of sex offenders living in the area and found a possible match: Jerrad Allen. The woman viewed a photo lineup and positively identified him as the intruder, according to the report.
Allen was arrested the next day following a foot chase in the 300 block of Petrol Road, not far from the victim’s home. He remains in custody without bail.
At a court hearing Thursday, Allen’s trial on a slew of charges — including sex crimes — was postponed to Aug. 17.
As terrifying as the incident was, authorities allege Allen committed a similar crime just a month earlier.

At about 1:19 a.m. on Dec. 10, 2021, a man wearing only a shirt and socks entered a home and chased a woman until her boyfriend forced him outside.
That man, captured on surveillance video, was later identified as Allen, investigators said.
The charges against him reflect both incidents.
Allen has previously been convicted of sex crimes involving a child, court records show. Released from jail in October 2021, just two months before the first attack, he’d failed to update his sex offender registration with law enforcement, according to the report.
