Freddy Fermin is back on the injured list. The Padres activated Luis Campusano as a corresponding move on Friday, but it never hurts to have another catcher hitting.
Blake Hunt swatted his fourth home run, helping Triple-A El Paso to a 4-2 win over visiting Sacramento.
The 27-year-old catcher is hitting .267/.346/.6222 with 12 RBIs in 14 games sandwiched around finally making his MLB debut.
Hunt struck out in all three at-bats in his lone start and was optioned back to El Paso on June 23. He had been called up while Fermin was on the concussion list. This time, Fermin is on the 10-day injured list with a head contusion.
Right fielder Nick Solak (.910 OPS) drove in two runs on his 11th homer and third baseman Luis Rengifo (1.218 OPS) hit his second homer.
Right-hander Evan Fitterrer (3-2, 3.53 ERA) allowed two runs in six innings in the win.
El Paso is 38-47.

Rangers 7, Padres 3: RHP Jose Leclerc struck out two over a scoreless inning in the start to begin a rehab assignment. The 32-year-old is coming back from season-ending shoulder surgery last August. He signed a minor league deal with the Padres in late March. DH Eddson Martinez (1.060 OPS), SS Santiago Vargas (.726 OPS) and 3B Abraham Bastidas (.777 OPS) each had two hits.
