A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday in an alleged hit-and-run crash in Fresno.
Officers responded to the incident just after 9 p.m. at Dakota and Fruit Avenues.
Officers arrived and found the rider lying on the roadway. Officers provided life-saving measures before the rider was taken to Community Regional Center, where he died.
He was identified by the coroner as Marvin Johnson of Fresno.
Fresno Police Lt. Lt. Justin Hoagland said the crash happened when the suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound on Dakota, while the motorcyclist was westbound on Dakota. Hoagland said the suspect vehicle made a northbound turn at the intersection and collided with the rider, even though both had a green light.
Hoagland said the driver did not stop and accelerated out of the area northbound on Fruit.
Hoagland said the vehicle is described as a silver SUV, possibly a “large frame Ford” that fled northbound on Fruit. He said the vehicle should have substantial front-end damage.
Anyone with information should call the police at 559-621-7000.
