Communities across San Diego celebrated the nation’s Independence Day and its 250th anniversary with fireworks shows on Saturday night
At Grape Day Park in Escondido, the park was filled with residents enjoying live music, games, crafts and other activities. But the start of the show began at 9 p.m., when fireworks lit up the night sky.
Carol Rogers, with the Escondido Business Association, was among those in attendance. “For the fourth of July, this is absolutely the place to be because it is a totally free event and it’s free music, free crafts, free games, there’s so much to do here while you wait for a phenomenal fireworks show,” she explained.
Meanwhile, thousands of people packed San Diego Bay for the annual Big Bay Boom celebration.
“It’s so iconic because the fireworks are the prettiest, the most grandiose of all the fireworks that I’ve seen, so we come here every year,” Andre Cabardo said.
Some visitors even crossed the border from Tijuana to celebrate in San Diego, including Gael Ramos.
“First time here and my friend too, and totally worth it. We couldn’t find parking. We had to buy $50 parking, but it was totally worth it from the beginning. I thought I was amazed, but at the very end, I didn’t know they could amaze me more, but it was so fun for my first time, totally gonna be here the next year,” Ramos said.
Families came from near and far to celebrate the Fourth of July in San Diego and spend time with loved ones.
