Carnitas Premium is serving up family-recipe carnitas and other Mexican favorites on the east side of Bakersfield — and the owner says a second location is set to open soon.
Jose Sanchez, the owner of Carnitas Premium, said the restaurant has been in business for the last couple years. He added are in the works to open the second location on Union and 19th street in 10 more days.
Among the most popular menu items, Sanchez said, are the carnitas, which he described as being prepared with fresh ingredients daily.

He also highlighted their tacos, chilaquiles, and chicharrons as guests favorites. The restaurant also serves pineapple and jicama flavored aqua frescas.
When I asked Sanchez what their secret ingredient into making their dishes so flavorful, he responded “It’s a family tradition. We’ve had our own recipe for the last 20 years,” he said.

Preparation starts early each day. Sanchez said staff arrive around 6am every day to start cooking the carnitas.
Carnitas Premium is located on 3900 Niles St in East Bakersfield.
