SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A neighbor’s quick response helped a family escape safely after a garage fire broke out at an Arden duplex Saturday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Firefighters responded to the 2800 block of Aurora Avenue after reports of a residential structure fire. Crews from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire and the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the garage of the duplex.

While firefighters attacked the flames, crews searched the home to make sure no one was still inside.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire before it spread into the living areas, limiting the damage to the garage. The home did sustain smoke damage inside.
Fire officials said a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the garage and alerted the people inside, giving everyone enough time to evacuate safely before crews arrived.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
