Concerts at Moonlight Beach
Community concerts for all ages are from 1 to 5 p.m. July 12, July 26, Aug. 9 and Aug. 23 at Moonlight Beach, 400 B St. Music ranges from Afrobeat grooves and island-inspired melodies to Americana storytelling and Latin rhythms. Symphony Pops concert
A musical journey through America will be the theme of the North Coast Symphony Pops concert at 2:30 p.m. July 11 at San Dieguito United Methodist Church. The program features music that celebrates America’s people, places and spirit. Highlights include Gershwin’s “O Land of Mine,” Copland’s inspiring “Variations on a Shaker Melody,” and favorites from Broadway hits “Oklahoma!” and “Chicago.” The concert continues through New Orleans jazz, New York City and the American West. Free pet vaccination clinic
A free pet vaccination clinic is from 9 a.m. to noon July 11 at nonprofit Rancho Coastal Humane Society by the Brock’s Community Pet Food Bank on the North campus, 389 Requeza St. The clinic offers vaccinations for dogs and cats, rabies vaccinations, licensing, microchips, pet food and other supplies. The event is in partnership with Petco Love. Dogs must be on leash or in carriers and cats must be in carriers. Registration is required at sdpets.org/Vaccineclinic.
Cardiff Dog Days of Summer returns for its 21st anniversary
Cardiff 101 Main Street will hold the 21st Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer, presented by Kahoots, on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Encinitas Community Park.
Visitors can explore more than 100 vendors offering dog-related products and services, meet local rescue organizations and adoption agencies in Rescue Row, and shop handmade goods from regional artisans in Maker’s Market Row. The event will also feature live music, dog contests, children’s activities, food vendors, and a Libation Lounge serving adult beverages, a news release stated.The event is free and open to the public. 18th Annual Operation Game On Golf Classic

Teen foster volunteer program at animal shelter
The Teen Foster Program at Rancho Coastal Humane Society gives teenagers 15 and older an opportunity to work hands-on with homeless animals while they earn service hours for their school or other organization. Summer Nights at San Diego Botanic Garden
Summer Nights is back at the San Diego Botanic Garden from 4 to 8 p.m. with extended garden hours June 25 to Aug. 6. The outdoor concert series features a variety of music and blooms on the Gazebo Lawn. Batiquitos Lagoon nature walk about bird migration
Batiquitos Lagoon will hold a docent-led nature walk on July 18 at 10 a.m. to learn about bird migration. Join Wildlife Biologist Viviane Marquez and learn about hummingbirds that migrate 500 miles in 24 hours, and which birds fly by night and which by day, and why birds fly more quickly in the spring than in the fall, and other fun facts. This 90-minute walk is free and good for all ages 12 and over. Meet at the Nature Center, 7380 Gabbiano Lane, Carlsbad. In case of rain, events will be canceled and rescheduled. El Camino Quilters Guild to hold July event featuring guest speaker
El Camino Quilters Guild meets at 10 a.m. on Tuesday July 14, at the Dove Library, 1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad.The July speaker will be Ann Turley. Class on travel photography

Alchemy and light photo exhibit
The artists of True North Photo Society explore the “interplay of alchemy and light” in a new exhibit of photographic works, Alchemy + Light, on display through Aug. 23 at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery at the Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane. The exhibit shows innovative ways the artists “transformed moments into luminous visual experiences.” The artists will discuss their own work during a tour of the gallery from 11 a.m. to noon July 8 featuring artists Priscilla Monger and Susan Hill and from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 5 with artists Brandy Sebastian, Judith Preston and Patricia Grabski. 30th Annual Encinitas Oktoberfest to return, sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities now open
The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce has announced that the 30th Annual Encinitas Oktoberfest will return from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, bringing a full day of Bavarian-inspired fun, live entertainment, artisan shopping, German food, beer gardens and family-friendly festivities to North County San Diego.
The Chamber is now accepting sponsorships and exhibitor applications for the free regional festival, which is expected to draw more than 10,000 attendees from throughout San Diego County and Southern California, a news release stated.

Free uber classHave you ever missed an appointment because you didn’t have a ride? Or wanted to attend an event but preferred not to drive? Confident use of a rideshare service might be the answer. Sign up for the free Uber class being offered by Senior Tech Connect and Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) and learn how to use the Uber app with confidence. The two-part class will be held on Monday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 22 at 11 a.m. The class is designed to help older adults ride with Uber confidently and independently. Each session is about an hour, and attendees are encouraged to come to both sessions. The class is being held in the large, community room at La Colonia Community Center.
