BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Bakersfield announced a large trash item drop-off event for Saturday at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport.

The city’s Solid Waste Division is set to host the event from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 11, at the Bakersfield Municipal Airport at 2000 S. Union Ave., according to city officials. The event time was moved up an hour due to expected high temperatures forecast for Saturday.

This is only for items that are too large to fit in the normal tan, gray or black residential trash bins. City officials asked residents to be prepared to unload the trash themselves.

Items like furniture; mattresses; box springs; major appliances; electronics such as TVs, monitors, computers or printers; water heaters; and barbecue grills without propane tanks will be accepted at the event.

The following items will not be accepted, according to the city:

Construction materials and debris, including concrete

Any item with refrigerant, such as air conditioners or refrigerators

Items weighing more than 300 pounds

Household hazardous waste
