OAKLAND — A man was fatally shot Tuesday morning in the East Oakland hills, authorities said.
His name was not immediately publicly released pending notification of his family. Authorities said he was 47 years old.
The shooting happened about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday outside near the intersection of Leona Drive and Old Quarry Loop, a residential area north of Interstate 580. The man lived in the area, authorities said.
The man was walking his dog when he was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive has not yet been determined. No arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been released.
The killing is the 27th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 38 homicides in the city.
