When summer is at its warmest and brightest and haziest and daydream-iest, it can feel like, at any mystical moment, a small pale bunny rocking a fashionable waistcoat might urgently emerge from the nearest tree stump.

We are in search of White Rabbit-style whimsies as July begins, in short, those high-summer sights and snacks that pay charming homage to Lewis Carroll’s famous and fanciful Alice adventures.

But you don’t have to wear a pinafore, or even be named Alice, to make your way to a Chado Tea Room this summer to sip and sup upon a tea service inspired by the “Wonder”-filled yarns.

The new Chado in Wonderland Afternoon Tea just debuted, and, with it, a few tempting courses inspired by the colorful realm of the Caterpillar, Chesire Cat, and Queen of Hearts.

The March Hare’s Curried Chicken Tea Sandwich and Humpty Dumpty’s Truffle Egg Brioche are two savory selections, while the Mad Hatter’s Earl Grey Supreme is a brew-forward choice.

On the sweeter side, consider Alice’s Garden Fruit Cups, the Queen of Hearts Pistachio & Raspberry Macarons, and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Cupcakes.

The price is $69 per person and the location of this lovely literature-fun lark? There is no need to tumble down the next rabbit hole you encounter: All four Chado Team Rooms are offering the Chado in Wonderland Afternoon Tea through Aug. 15, 2026.

Reservations can and should be made through the Chado Tea Room site.

Wend your way to Hollywood, Torrance, Downtown Los Angeles, and Pasadena to partake in this made-for-summer whimsy, a tasty trip into the pages of a classic.

Wearing your prettiest pinafore, spunkiest set of rabbit ears, or even a rosy crown? That, of course, is up to you, dear fantasy seeker.
