BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — More children in Bakersfield will soon have a chance to learn how to swim through a new grant aimed at expanding access to low-cost lessons and free pool time.
The city’s Recreation and Parks Department is receiving a $54,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente to help fund low-cost swim lessons. The two-year grant will pay for 300 swim lessons this year and another 300 next year for children ages 3 to 17.
