Law enforcement is investigating a double homicide in Ramona that took place Monday evening.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an assault with a firearm at around 8:44 Monday night on the 600 block of 11th St. in Ramona.
When deputies arrived, they found a man and a woman with traumatic injuries inside. Both died at the scene.
Deputies also found a man waiting at the steps of the residence. Escondido resident Ryan Proffitt, 33, was arrested for two counts of murder.
The identity of the two killed is being withheld pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
“The circumstances and motive surrounding the incident remain under investigation,” said the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office in a statement. “Based on information gathered thus far, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the community.”
