CROFTON, Neb. (WOWT) – A 65-year-old man from California died after experiencing an emergency at Lewis & Clark Lake in northeast Nebraska.
According to a Tuesday news release from Nebraska Game & Parks, Knox County 911 got a call at 3:38 p.m. Monday that a man was hurt while operating a personal watercraft west of Gavins Point Dam.
“The caller reported the man was having difficulty breathing and needed immediate medical assistance,” the release states.
The man, from San Leandro, Calif., was found on his personal watercraft and was loaded onto a pontoon boat to get him to emergency personnel. Crofton Fire & Rescue took him by ambulance to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D., where he was pronounced dead.
Yankton Search & Rescue and South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks also responded to the incident.
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is investigating the incident.
