Re “Study contradicts assumptions on aging, decline” (July 5): I appreciated Dr. Leana S. Wen’s thoughtful article highlighting the positive side of aging. It reflects a welcome shift in how we think about growing older.
In my discussions with older adults, I’m encouraged by how many are discovering new interests, volunteering, learning new skills and finding fresh purpose later in life. While aging brings its share of challenges, it no longer has to be viewed primarily as a time of decline or something to dread.
Our attitude and expectations matter. When we look ahead with curiosity and openness, we’re more likely to notice new opportunities than closed doors.
I’m glad to see this more balanced and hopeful view of aging gaining attention. It’s a perspective that deserves to become the norm rather than the exception.
