Park in West Sacramento reopens with city’s first pickleball courts

The city of West Sacramento unveiled the new and improved West Acre Park on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new amenities of the park include a play structure, splash pad, basketball court, skatepark, and soccer fields. The park is also home to the first pickleball courts in the city. “The second that the fence came down this morning, the entire community came out to use and experience all of our play features,” said Kate Smith, the Parks and Recreation Director for the city of West Sacramento. “We had the splash pad going. We have kids going down the slide, we have pickleball, we have skaters. So it really is meeting all of our needs of our community and uplifting our entire population.”The changes are funded through a $7.8 million Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program Grant from California State Parks.There is another event to celebrate the project.
