Coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore and San Francisco Peninsula Coast are the focus of an updated beach hazards statement issued at 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday by the National Weather Service. The statement is valid for Thursday, Nov. 6 between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The NWS San Francisco CA adds to be ready for, “A long period westerly swell will result in an increased risk for sneaker waves, rip currents, and breaking waves of 14 to 19 feet with the highest waves up to 22 feet in favored locations.”
“Sneaker waves can unexpectedly run significantly farther up the beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. Rip currents are typically more frequent and stronger in the vicinity of jetties, inlets, and piers,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
