The closures began Thursday morning with normal service scheduled to resume at 6 p.m. The temporary closure will go back in place on Friday at 6 a.m. and will continue through Sunday at 11 a.m.(Previous coverage in video above)The stations will be closed due to station platform construction at the 8th and O station in downtown Sacramento, SacRT said. “It’s to update not only our station platform, but it’s to meet the height requirement of brand-new low floor light rail trains,” Jessica Gonzalez, Sac RT spokesperson, said. “We’re only working on that one station, but because of how the power turn off works, because of locations where trains can turn around, it does impact that downtown core.” According to SacRT, the following stations will be closed from Thursday to Sunday: Globe (Open headed outbound and bus bridge connection point)Alkali Flat/La Valentina12th and ICathedral Square (10th and K and 11th and K)9th and K Sacramento Valley Station7th and Capitol8th and Capitol8th and K 8th and H (County Center)7th and I (County Center)8th and OArchives Plaza13th Street (open outbound and bus bridge connection point) Shuttle buses will pick up and drop off riders near each affected station.
