Construction plans for the corner of Vermont and Lexington avenues finally seem to have revived after sitting dormant since 2019. Construction equipment has been on site at 4663 W. Lexington Avenue, where a building permit calls for a six-story mixed-use structure with 24 apartments and two ground-floor commercial units. Similar plans first emerged in 2019, and were conditionally approved in August 2020.

Development is moving along for the new Island Pacific Market on Eagle Rock Boulevard. A permit has been issued for remodeling the former Rite Aid into a new supermarket with a dine-in restaurant, and a reader writes in to say they have seen construction on the site. Permits have also been approved for 4044 Eagle Rock Blvd. to demolish non-bearing walls, upgrade the electrical system, install a new fire alarm panel, and go ahead with other technical improvements. Attempts to reach the Island Pacific Market corporate office for further comment have not gotten a response.

Naji Garabet, who owns the Gandymede Drive lots, said his construction funding got pulled during the pandemic, and now he has to get permits reapproved. A spokesperson for City Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez said no city code allows the Department of Building and Safety to force a property owner to complete construction. ABC7
