5 p.m. Future of Us: Dogpatch block party (opens in new tab)
During this gloomy July week, let a community event bring the sunshine. The Future of Us Festival, a multi-day event celebrating public visions of the future, is hosting a free block party to get your mind off of work and into weekend mode. Groove to live music, make chalk art, and nosh on bites.
7:00 p.m. Fries and martinis at Bar Malone’s (opens in new tab)
Hop on the 15 or the T to your dinner destination, Bar Malone’s. A favorite among The Standard’s food team, this new bar welcomes martini lovers who aren’t afraid to get briny. Our recommendations: triple-cooked fries, lentil-crusted cauliflower, and black cod.
9:30 p.m. Liz Miele (opens in new tab) at Punch Line San Francisco
Is the news of San Francisco becoming even more unaffordable amid AI company IPOs getting you down? You’re probably in need of a good laugh. After dinner, head slightly north to see comedian Liz Miele at a legendary venue.
Saturday, July 11

11 a.m. West Coast Craft Waves (opens in new tab) at Fort Mason Gateway Pavilion
The one-month countdown to Outside Lands has officially begun. Use it as an excuse to buy a new-to-you vintage outfit at this highly curated secondhand market selling everything from fur coats to Levi’s.

4 p.m. Shuggie’s goodbye party (opens in new tab)
Last call for upcycled bites! After four years in the Mission, Shuggie’s is closing. (However, the team will be serving up their signature pizza (opens in new tab) at Outside Lands in August.) Stop by the farewell bash to take in the orange and green dining rooms one last time.
6:30 p.m. Dolly Parton Hoot (opens in new tab) at El Rio
The party at Shuggie’s was just the pregame. Walk half a mile south to El Rio, known for its themed nights. Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the Dolly-centered party, with trivia, dance-offs, and DJs remixing hits by the Queen of Country.

12 p.m. Ferry Fest (opens in new tab)
Missed out on the Stern Grove lottery? Another free music festival awaits at the Ferry Building, with sweeping bay views and a lineup curated by Noise Pop. Make an afternoon out of it by shopping from Pickwick Vintage’s on-site vendors and tasting wine from Napa Vintners.
2 p.m. Lunch at Saluhall and boozy browsing at Ikea
Saluhall is so back … or at least it’s hoping to be. Walk down Market to give the Ikea-adjacent food hall some much-needed business by sampling the Mediterranean dishes at newcomer Oklava and checking out revamped drinks, including a strawberry shiso cocktail. The best part? You’re now permitted to drink as you shop for a Billy bookcase next door.
6 p.m. “Love Island USA” watch party (opens in new tab) at Madrone Art Bar
This Divisadero Street staple will stream reruns of the previous two episodes before the live finale at 6 p.m. Order a drink from the bar, grab popcorn, and anxiously await which couple takes home the $100,000 prize.
