The Metropolitan Transit System touted its trolley service for the Big Bay Boom, but the return trip was a complete failure. We parked at UTC, and getting to the event was easy. Getting home was a disaster.
After the fireworks, hundreds of people waited for trolleys that arrived already packed, leaving no room for more passengers. This continued for hours. Even Uber wasn’t an option because demand was so high.
We eventually rode a southbound train to reach an earlier station, only to learn MTS had taken an entire northbound train out of service during peak post-event demand. We finally boarded the last trolley to UTC around midnight, packed shoulder to shoulder. Many others likely never got on.
If we had known the trolley would be so unreliable, we would have driven and gladly paid for parking.
Advice to MTS: Don’t offer a service you cannot deliver on.
