Re “City closing bathrooms creates threat to public health” (June 12): The decision of the city to close many bathroom facilities at San Diego Bay and beach areas has to be the dumbest, most short-sighted idea our leaders have come up with in recent memory. How can San Diego call itself “America’s Finest City” when tourists and taxpaying citizens can’t even use the bathroom at the beach? All to save $500,000 or so. Instead of closing bathrooms, the city needs to keep them open and keep them clean.

The mayor and City Council have shown complete incompetence in running the city budget for years and now they want to plug the deficits by coming up with stupid solutions.
Close public bathrooms in Mission Bay? Come on!
Raising parking fees and adding street meters kill business and tourism. What’s next?
Have they really tried to reduce staff and expenses at City Hall? No!
Elected leaders: Clean your house before you use us taxpayers and visitors as your bank!
