OAKLAND — A man who threatened an employee with a knife robbed a Chinatown bank Thursday morning, authorities said.
The robbery happened about 9:26 a.m. Thursday at the Wells Fargo Bank branch, 901 Franklin St.
According to initial police accounts, the man grabbed an employee by the collar — it was not immediately clear if the employee was a teller or held another position — threatened them with a knife and demanded cash.
The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank on foot, last seen walking on Franklin Street, police said.
The robber is described as Black, in his 40s to 50s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was bald and had a salt-and-pepper beard. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and what appeared to be light colored jeans.
