Shohei Ohtani was scratched as the Dodgers‘ starting pitcher Friday against Arizona due to continued irritation in his left knee and will be the upcoming All Star Game, the team said.
Ohtani, who is 8-2 with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts, was slotted into the designated hitter role for the rest of the weekend against the division foes. After the series against the Diamondbacks, Ohtani will have “some interventions on his knee to put him in the best position for the second half of the season,” the Dodgers said.
Ohtani will not travel to Philadelphia to participate in his sixth straight 2026 All-Star Game. He was selected as the National League starting DH for Tuesday’s game.

Ohtani is coming off a milestone week that saw him smash his 300th career home run Tuesday against Colorado. He is the first Japanese-born player in the majors to reach the milestone.
Ohtani became the fifth-fastest in history to reach 300 and the 170th player to join the club. He reached the mark in 1,102 games between playing for the Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers. The Yankees’ Aaron Judge was the quickest at 955 games.
