The Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) officially announced its partnership with Metropolis, a no-contact parking app, on Wednesday.
That includes the launch of the mobility app’s “Drive-In, Drive Out Parking,” commencing a new and easier parking process for travelers, city officials said.
The system will be initiated on July 14 and will allow for travelers to simply drive in and out of FAT’s parking lots without the need to manage tickets or kiosks.
Travelers can register their vehicle either through the Metropolis’ app or through any of the QR codes available at the entrance of each parking lot. After registering, the system uses license plate recognition technology to automatically identify registered vehicles as they enter and exit airport parking facilities. Parking charges will be processed automatically, and customers will receive a digital receipt.
“As a California-based company, bringing our platform to Fresno Yosemite International Airport is a milestone we’re especially proud of, and it deepens our roots across our home state and cements our presence in the heart of the Central Valley,” said Rob Mitchell, Vice President of Aviation at Metropolis. “By bringing our platform to all of FAT’s lots, we’re removing the friction of parking and replacing it with a simple, modern experience that gives travelers back their time, while helping the airport run more efficiently as it continues to grow.”
The parking upgrade is the latest investment following the completion of the airport’s FATforward modernization program, the largest capital improvement project in the airport’s history. Completed in December 2025, FATforward brought the airport a new concourse, expanded international arrivals facilities and a multilevel parking garage.
Metropolis said Fresno will join approximately 75 airports nationwide using its airport mobility platform, including facilities in Texas, Hawaii and California. Their services include parking, reservations, baggage services and more for their airport associates.
Although the new system emphasizes contactless payments, cash will remain an option. Airport officials said designated lanes will continue to accept cash payments, and staff will remain available to assist travelers during the transition.
“At Fresno Yosemite International Airport, we are committed to delivering a modern, world-class experience for the travelers of California’s Central Valley, and that begins the moment they arrive,” said Francisco Partida, FAT Interim Director of Aviation. “Coming off the largest expansion in our history, this partnership with Metropolis lets us give passengers a faster, simpler way to park. It reflects our broader commitment to innovation and to making FAT one of the most convenient and forward-thinking airports in the state.”
The partnership with Fresno Yosemite International Airport aligns with Metropolis’s larger national strategy. Metropolis has recently partnered with Joby Aviation to develop 25 vertiports across the U.S., leveraging Metropolis’s extensive parking network and AI-based recognition technology to integrate air taxi services directly into ground transportation hubs.
