Eight people, including four teens, have been arrested for gang-related assaults in San Jose, police said Thursday.
Five were arrested for an April 4 gang-related assault in which six people violently assaulted a man, and continued beating him after he lost consciousness.
The attack at around 9 p.m. on the 3800 block of Seven Trees Boulevard in San Jose left the man hospitalized with major life-threatening injuries. Before police arrived, the suspects fled in a vehicle.
The San Jose Gang Investigations Unit identified the primary suspects of the assault as a 50-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy. The adults, both San Jose residents, are known gang members according to police.
San Jose police did not respond to an inquiry into the status of the sixth suspect in the attempted murder.
Police also said they linked the same suspects to a violent assault in Sunnyvale last March. Three additional people were arrested: a 21-year-old man, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy. In a statement, they said the 16-year-old also allegedly brandished a firearm in February at an apartment complex on the 4300 block of The Woods Drive in San Jose.
All eight were arrested between June 24 and July 1.
The Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office charged the 21-year-old, 19-year-old and 18-year-old with assault and robbery. The 50-year-old was charged with assault.
