Dutch Bros Coffee just opened a new drive-thru about 150 feet from an existing drive-thru.
No, the market is not so saturated that the coffee shops are opening side by side — even though there are a lot of Dutch Bros opening in the Fresno area.
But the new location at the southwest corner of Ashlan and Willow avenues (at the Chestnut Diagonal) is a replacement for the very first Dutch Bros that opened in Fresno; a 400-square-foot building opened in 2006.
The new building is 1,190 square feet. It also has a two drive-thru lanes that merge into one, meaning it can pack more cars in a smaller space instead of having a line snake throughout the parking lot.
It also has a walk-up window, but not an indoor lobby with seating.
The bigger size means the building can hold more work stations and equipment, said Jacob Cantu, marketing and events manager at Dutch Bros Coffee Fresno.
The changes also mean Dutch Bros can take orders ahead of time through the Dutch Bros app, something they couldn’t do at the old location.
All the changes should speed up the process at the popular drink spot, “allowing us to serve more cars efficiently than the previous location,” Cantu said.
The original Dutch Bros location is up for lease.
The new location is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
