A motorcyclist was arrested after they were caught going faster than 130 mph on the 5 Freeway in Orange County on the Fourth of July, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A CHP commander in a fixed-wing aircraft first spotted the red motorcycle exceeding speeds of 100 mph on the northbound side of the 5 Freeway in the San Juan Capistrano area near Saddleback College.
The CHP commander captured aerial footage of the high-speed joyride. The video, provided by CHP, shows the motorcyclist recklessly zipping past other drivers, splitting lanes and using the median as a personal passing lane.
Instead of pursuing the rider on the ground, CHP continued to follow the speeding motorcyclist overhead. The rider continued on to the northbound 405 Freeway before exiting at Culver Drive in Irvine.

On city streets, they continued riding at speeds faster than 100 mph, the video shows. The rider ultimately parked at an Irvine sushi restaurant before authorities moved in and made the arrest.
Video shows the rider raising their hands as officers took them into custody. The motorcycle was seized and impounded for 30 days under a judge-signed court order
“This is the 38th vehicle seized this year by the CHP Capistrano Area for reckless driving, speed contests, or evading law enforcement,” CHP said. “Excessive speed and racing put everyone at risk. No thrill is worth a life. Slow down, drive responsibly, and help keep our roads safe.”
