LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man has been charged in connection with a June shooting in the California neighborhood, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2300 block of Hale Avenue just after 4:15 a.m. on Friday, June 12. At the scene, first responders found a man who had been shot.
The victim was taken to UofL Hospital, where he survived his injuries.
On Sunday, July 12, LMPD announced that 22-year-old Amare Battle was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Battle is being charged with assault, violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO and attempted murder.
According to Battle’s arrest citation, he “declared his intent to kill the victim” after shooting him before a witness allegedly pushed him off the victim, causing a magazine to fall out of the gun.
The 22-year-old is said to have then fled the scene. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, July 13.
