LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) — On Saturday, The Meadowoods Disc Golf Course received its finishing touches following a soft opening two months ago.

The City of Long Beach donated the land it stands on and Harrison County donated the baskets.
Course designer Mike Smith said he thinks the support comes from the versatility disc golf offers the community.
“It’s an inexpensive way for parents to get kids involved. It’s a great way to get exercise,” Smith said. “It’s very cost-effective, because other than a $15 disc, you really don’t need anything. You don’t need pads, you don’t need safety equipment, you don’t have to have referees or umpires. You don’t need to install lights out here. After it’s all installed, it’s a very easy way to have fun.”

In addition to the labor, the Navy also donated signage for the course.
The course is located behind the Long Beach Senior Center.
