Some San Francisco residents likely got quite a shock when a massive homeless encampment popped up in their neighborhood. But a closer inspection revealed that things weren’t as they appeared.
Rows of tents were pitched this week in areas where they aren’t usually found. Some San Franciscans reportedly even called 311 to report it to the city.
While it may look real to people driving by, it turns out the tents are empty.

That’s because it’s actually scenery for a film production that’s been happening across the city this week.
As first reported by KTLA sister station KRON4 in San Francisco, the encampment in the city’s Financial District is actually the set for a new Netflix thriller called “2034.”
The AI-themed film stars Rachel McAdams, Toni Collette and Jeff Daniels and is directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, according to IMDb.
Crews, equipment trucks and traffic control officers are working in the area of California and Battery streets during production.
Redditors also spotted Gordon-Levitt filming in additional locations earlier in the week.
No further details were available online about the film.
