An investigation continued Monday into an off-duty Long Beach police officer who fired shots at a trio of male suspects after they robbed him.
The robbery occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday near Bixby Road and Orange Avenue in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The exact location was not disclosed.
The department reported that one suspect pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the officer while another robbed him. Investigators did not say what was taken from the officer, whose name was withheld.
Police told City News Service the investigation was ongoing Monday afternoon, and no suspects had been taken into custody in connection with the robbery.
No injuries have been reported from the officer’s gunfire. The suspects fled the scene.
