The annual celebration, Bastille Day, marks a key moment for the French Revolution when Parisians stormed the Bastille prison on July 14, fighting against the country’s oppressive monarchy. A one-day-only treat in honor of Bastille Day is coming to the French bistro in collaboration with Leah Chin-Katz’s pastry pop-up Double Chin. The Baba Au Rhum, a pillowy soft classic French bundt cake soaked in citrusy dark rum syrup, topped with vanilla chantilly cream and cherries, is available on July 14 only at all three locations: Venice, West Hollywood and Manhattan Beach.

The free open-air concert and French market returns to California Plaza for its second year hosted by the Consulate Général de France a Los Angeles in partnership with Grand Performances. In honor of Bastille Day, the celebration will include French culture, music and food free with RSVP.

Enjoy contemporary French cuisine while exploring the rustic building with a famous past. According to owner and Chef Walter Manzke, Charlie Chaplin built the Spanish-style brick building in 1928 and used it as an office space. The site later became the home of the famous La Brea Bakery and the Campanile Restaurant. Recognized by various culinary organizations, Chef Walter and his wife, Chef Margarita, operate the contemporary French cafe and restaurant in the La Brea building. Summer courses include yellowtail tartare, Berkshire Kurobuta pork belly and Brandt prime beef striploin.
