(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a deadly stabbing at McClatchy Park early Tuesday morning.

Just before 12:30 a.m., police responded to reports of an assault in the 3500 block of 5th Avenue in Oak Park.

Officers found a man with at least one stab wound.

He died at the scene despite emergency medical aid. Investigators are working to identify the man’s name and age.

FOX40 has a crew on scene who saw CSI and detectives focusing on the area around the park’s baseball diamond. Investigators were also seen collecting evidence and taking photos of a car in the parking lot, as well as around the park’s bathrooms. Around 5 a.m., an additional CSI van and a detective arrived on scene.

SPD said a person of interest has been detained.

Homicide detectives and CSI will remain on scene investigating, with no estimated time for the park to reopen.
