Sheetz has opened its second Oakland County location as the Pennsylvania-based gas station-convenience store company continues its expansion in Michigan.
Orion Township Supervisor Chris Barnett, Township Clerk Julia Dalrymple, other township officials, and representatives from Congresswoman Lisa McClain’s office, joined Sheetz leadership, including Travis Sheetz, President and CEO, to celebrate the occasion.
“It’s been incredible to see how many communities across Michigan have welcomed Sheetz with open arms, and Orion Township is no exception,” said Nick Ruffner, public affairs manager for Sheetz. “With every new store, we feel more and more like part of the state, not just a business operating here. We’re grateful for the warm welcome and can’t wait to serve our new neighbors in Orion Township.”
In honor of the grand opening, Sheetz made a $2,500 donation to both Forgotten Harvest and Special Olympics Michigan and customers who donated non-perishable food items at the event received Sheetz branded thermal bags, with all donations benefiting a local food bank.
The new location at 4060 S. Lapeer Road is a 6,139-square-foot gas station-convenience store with a drive-through restaurant on a 1.9-acre site.
The new Orion Township spot joins the Novi location, which was the first in Oakland County. There are now 11 stores across the Detroit area.
Sheetz is planning to open nearly a dozen more stores across the region in 2026. Overall, they see between 50 and 60 stores opening in Michigan over the next five to six years.
Sheetz operates over 800 locations across the country with all locations open 24/7, 365 days a year.
