BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Lancaster man was arraigned on Tuesday, July 14, for a shooting on Forrest Street last month that injured another man. He faces attempted murder and related charges, according to Kern County court records.
Christian Villasenor, 43, was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the shooting. Bakersfield police said Villasenor was arrested on July 1, 2026, after fleeing to Las Vegas.
Villasenor faces additional charges of assault on a person with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Bakersfield police said the shooting happened Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m. on Forrest Street near H Street.

Police said there is no indication the crime was gang-related. Officials said the man who was struck remained in “critical but stable condition” in early July.
Police said the suspect and victim are known acquaintances and that the victim was the target.
Villasenor’s next court date is pending.
