Oaktown’s The Bridge Yard hosts dozens of swoon-worthy, women-owned brands at their festive Marché shopping celebration on November 15th.
Plus, Marine Layer makes personalization fun with its creative Custom Club pop-up on Fillmore Street, and Fog City Flea Trading Post debuts a giant, modern concept store in the Mission.
Time to get gifty: Marché holiday marketplace lands in Oakland next weekend.

Marché returns to the Bay Area for the third time next Saturday, transforming Oakland’s The Bridge Yard into a magical marketplace for top-notch shopping, yummy eats, and cheery holiday vibes from 10am to 4pm.
Marché, which has become a beloved, must-attend event for local tastemakers, fashion fiends, and indie shoppers, is especially great for knocking off gift lists in one fell swoop. That’s because, once again, founders and unicorn connectors Sarah Ewick and Betsy Sadler have put together a covetable roster of 70-plus women-owned brands.
Think jewelry and clothing, beauty and home goods, art, accessories, and foodie finds. The throughline connecting the artisans and labels? A focus on ethical, eco-conscious production and dedication to high-quality craftsmanship. Just a few local brands on tap include Case for Making, Mur by Ayca, Hey Freya, Sardine, Freda Salvador, True Botanicals, Lan Jaenicke, Parker Thatch, and Soochie. (A little birdie told us to be on the lookout for special one-day-only offers.)
And since shopping requires sustenance, Marché ensures you won’t get hangry—Flywheel Coffee, Le Carousel Pâtisserie, El Sur (empanada heaven), Salt & Straw, and Christine’s will be on-site. Plus, Oakland’s Friends and Family will be running the Marché Bar.
In other good news, Marché will be making a direct donation to Chamber of Mothers, a nonpartisan nonprofit working to advance maternal health, paid family leave, and affordable childcare in the U.S.
New this year: You’ll purchase tickets for a specific time period to help alleviate crowds. Choose from early access (10am–11am), morning (11am–1pm), or afternoon (1pm–4pm) slots. Power shoppers should consider going VIP for all-day access with no waiting in line, two drink tickets, and a VIP gift bag.

Love a monogrammed tee? Have a never-too-many patches fashion philosophy? Message sweatshirts your love language?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, hightail it to The Custom Club on Fillmore Street and prepare for a Willy Wonka-like personalized shopping experience brought to you by the folks at Marine Layer. The pop-up, open through mid-January, is a brilliant showcase for the 15-year-old SF retailer’s creative, softer-than-thou staples—T-shirts, cashmere hoodies and sweats, plus limited-edition designs.
Just choose your layer and go one-of-a-kind crazy: there are more than 70 ultra-cool, in-house-designed patches from which to choose, including SF-centric styles, travel-inspired motifs, and playful icons of all sorts. (We’re particularly smitten with the foodie items, à la bubble tea, tacos, pretzels, and martinis.) Get your initials, nickname, or favorite catchphrase chain-stitched or embroidered in any thread color.
Thing is, it really is impossible not to have fun while surrounded by a six-foot spool of thread, a seven-foot stack of oversized fleece hoodies, and a humongous, upholstered back wall made from ML’s Cloud 9 fleece—and that’s exactly the point, says Renee Lopes Halvorsen, Marine Layer’s chief marketing officer.
“We’re excited to introduce Custom Club now to the San Francisco community because, in an increasingly digital, AI-driven era, taking the time to customize something tactile, fun, and personal has more meaning than ever.”
See ya at da Club.

Mission accomplished! Fog City Flea Trading Post unveils a new Valencia Street store.
(Courtesy of Fog City Trading Post)
Fog City Flea in the Ferry Building is one of the city’s top spots for picking up local artisan goods, vintage finds, jewelry, housewares, paper goods, souvenirs, and more. We have the same expectations for the retailer’s new brick-and-mortar baby, scheduled to open Friday, November 14th, in the Mission.
At 20,000 square feet, the beautiful two-story building dwarfs its older sibling and has the feel of a classic boutique department store made modern. The expansive space features an apothecary, stationery, accessories, streetwear, and vintage and contemporary fashion, along with furniture, art, and design (on the second floor).
In other words, holiday shopping is about to get a lot cheerier.
