Savor East Sac 2026: A preview of the 10-day event
Welcome back. East Sacramento serving up something special next week. Savor East SA will be back. So the most talented chefs will go head to head in an elevated competition for the title of Top Chef of East Sac. Let’s go to Kelly Curran right now at the cannery for more on what folks can expect. Yeah, this is so exciting. So this 10 day event starts out next week and you know this has been going on for more than *** decade already. Savor East SAC has, but this is the 2nd year for the chefs competition. So joining me right now is Heather Pierce, who’s the president of the East Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. So tell me first *** little bit about Savor East SAC and how long this has been going on and what it means for the community. Yeah, well, it has been going on *** little over *** decade. Um, it is much like Dine Downtown. Uh, we host it for 10 days. Starts on July 24th through August 2nd. We have restaurants, bars, grocery stores, tap houses. Basically they run *** special. It’s the slowest time, so it’s where we try to give back to that industry and just help them, you know, stay alive. So who, who are some of the restaurants that might be featured? Well, for example, grocery outlet is going to be giving away sparkling water. Um, just show up and you’ll get one. We’re going to be there on the 29th, the chamber, and we give away swag for *** little while while supplies last. Um, Chow at Sackyard. Both of them will be giving specials. I don’t know. I think they’re doing the lobster roll again, but I can’t, can’t, don’t quote me on that, but they always have some great food at that truck, so that’s *** great place to go. Tandem Coffee and Wine, Tiffre Coffee, um, we have chocolate fish. We have Nitty’s cider. It’s just, you can go to our website and see the long list. We usually have about 35 to 40 participating restaurants, and we do about 20 of them where we show up to give swag, whether lunch or dinner or even in the morning time. And it’s such *** great time of year to do this too, because it’s so hot. Who wants to cook, right? Yes, exactly. And that’s one of the things why it’s kind of *** slower time in the industry because people are out of town on vacation, and then, but you’re coming back from vacation, so who wants to mess their kitchen up? Exactly. All right, and so chef Romoli, you’re with the Cannery Place and also With Chow. Now we have, this is the 2nd year that we’re going to have *** chef’s challenge, and that’s going to kick off the event. Can you quickly tell us *** little bit about what, what entails the chef challenge? So, uh, great local chefs from the ISA area here, so we get to showcase some of the restaurants maybe you hadn’t seen or heard of just yet. Um, basically we get *** bounty and they get to pick some ingredients from it and then prepare *** dish about relatively the size of what we have here and everybody gets *** taste and then there’s, you know, the audience will judge and so will our judges to see what the best one was. Yeah, so that’ll be super fun. So this is *** great way for you to not only check out the fabulous restaurants in East Sacramento, but. Also, it’s going to be local ingredients that are going to be featured as well. So *** great option if you’re looking for *** fun place to dine, and of course tickets for the chef’s challenge are going to be on sale and that event is going to be on the 24th of July. Back to you.
