Free shuttle service returns for California Rodeo Salinas
Been in the working process and it looks really cool. Excitement is building for Treasure Cove, Capitola’s first playground for all ability levels. It features wheelchair accessible equipment, swings, slides, and sensory play areas. I’m really excited. I really want to see people play and I can play with and I can also make friends. The wait is almost over. City leaders say only the finishing touches. All of the fencing has arrived, which is very exciting, and that really is the very last step. So we’re excited to get this all installed and the park open. Bringing Treasure Cove to life took both public funding and community support. County park friends helped raise more than $1 million for the project. Our public spaces are *** democracy in action, and we want every child to show up at our public spaces and know I belong. I’m part of our community and everyone thought about me just as much as everyone else. Treasure Cove is just one piece of the larger Jade Street Park improvements. The renovated community center is now open, creating *** refreshed space for programs, activities, and community events. I’ve taught *** little kind of gentle yoga class here at the center for almost 15 years, and I do think it’s *** great community resource. Last summer I was here and we were over there. And this is *** lot nicer. Like, it’s like blows me out of the water. Like I, I get to wake up and like be here and like eat all the food in the kitchen. Like it’s it’s really nice for the kids. The countdown is all about the playground. The swings look so much better because I remember going on the swings and everyone was like fighting over them and stuff. They always tell me like, awesome, like when are we gonna like go over there? I’m like, you might as well just go right now. Let’s jump the fence, like do your thing. And there’s *** lot of excitement around Treasure Cove. There’s no clear opening yet, but leaders are really confident in that mid-August opening. Live in Capitola. Currently 71 degrees. Northwest winds around 11 MPH. So for the past 3 hours, we really see those high clouds really diminished to sunny and clear out there. Current temperatures right now, 95 in Gilroy, 71 in Watsonville and Salinas, 84 in Carmel Valley. Tonight though, upper 50s to mid-60s, mostly clear. Uh, you need to park at the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex. Take the shuttle from right there, very convenient, not far away. The shuttles start at 4:30. Starting tomorrow. They’re going to then, uh, tomorrow through the 17th they run from 4:30 to 11. Then on Saturday and Sunday, uh, the shuttle runs from 11:15 in the morning till 7:30. The service is free and *** lot of people like to use it. It’s popular. We had *** really good response last year. We were, we pulled, we were hoping for like *** 10% of our lot to move over there and we ended up at about 18%. So every time *** bus leaves there, one leaves here, um, keep it flowing, it’s about *** 15 minute interval. Security will be at parking lots during hours of operation. You cannot leave your car overnight. They’ll tow it, so, uh, it’s all first come, first served, but it’s *** great option.

The California Rodeo Salinas shuttle program is returning this year, offering free transportation for attendees from the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex to the event. Shuttles will operate from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 15-17 and from 11:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on July 18-19. Organizers said, “We had a really good response last year. We were hoping for like 10% of our lot to move over there, and we ended up at about 18%. So every time a bus leaves there, one leaves here, keep it flowing. It’s about a 15-minute interval.” Security will be present at the parking lots during shuttle hours, but cars cannot be left overnight. Parking and shuttle services are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
