As the World Cup comes to a close, Gagosian debuts a new exhibition by Douglas Gordon about Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (2006). The double-screen film follows French soccer player Zinédine Zidane throughout a match.

The Garland hotel in North Hollywood welcomes two musical acts as the first installment of its summer concert series, featuring live music, craft cocktails and bites from its restaurant, The Front Yard. Thursday night spotlights classic rock band FM Station and New Classics with net proceeds benefiting North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry. The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. with tickets starting at $23 online.

Grammy-winning artist Cory Henry kicks off the free sunset concert series at Skirball Cultural Center with his band, The Funk Apostles. From 7 to 9:30 p.m., concertgoers can enjoy an opening set by Katalyst, an intermission with DJ J.Period and access to galleries and concessions in Skirball’s hillside courtyard.

Named after the 1974 hit by the Bay City Rollers, the Summerlove Sensation exhibition centers around youthful love, lust and longing. The free opening will include a food truck co-sponsored by Chef Esther Choi’s sauce brand Sessy, as well as a bar sponsored by LALO Tequila and CVT soft serve ice cream.
