Cardiff native Jacob Clark recently earned an Emmy Award for his work as a news reporter for KGET-TV in Bakersfield, Calif.
Clark, a graduate of San Dieguito Academy, received the award at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Pacific Southwest Chapter Emmy Awards on June 27 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, according to a news release.
After graduating from American University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 2025, Clark joined KGET as the station’s political reporter covering Kern County. Within months, he was promoted to weekend anchor, where he anchors weekend newscasts, presents weather forecasts and continues his reporting assignments.
Clark and colleagues earned the Emmy in the Continuing Coverage category for “The Scrivner Saga: A Community Seeking Justice,” recognizing their reporting on community reaction following the sentencing of a former Kern County supervisor accused of sexually abusing a pre-teen girl, the news release stated.
“It was a tremendous privilege to win this award, and I am incredibly grateful to my colleagues and news director at KGET,” said Clark in the news release.
Winning an Emmy so early in his career is a remarkable accomplishment. Clark’s rapid promotion from political reporter to weekend anchor, combined with recognition for investigative reporting, underscores his dedication to impactful journalism and public service, the news release stated.
The NATAS Pacific Southwest Chapter recognizes excellence in television journalism across San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nevada.
