Major Sacramento County roadway blocked after vehicle shears off utility pole

We’re gonna start here along Fair Oaks Boulevard at Dell Road where early this morning *** truck hit *** power pole, sheared the pole off, and took off from the scene, and that’s, uh, led to *** closure of Fair Oaks Boulevard, and that’s where we have Mike Dee live with, uh, what is going on out there, Mike. Yeah, and the discussion right now, Brian, is this is something that could last for the next 12 hours. Let me show you why you were talking about that power pole sheared off. Well, there you go. You got the top half of the pole just being suspended by the lines it’s connected to, and then the bottom half dragging those wires down to the ground, talking to one of the neighbors here. They have power, however, The internet and cable is down just like these wires, so that is the damage that’s done moving forward. Smut has been out here to check this out. They obviously have to bring in *** brand new utility pole and put that up and then reconnect everything, and that is something that at this point the discussion is could Take 12 hours to accomplish. So what does that mean for anybody who uses Fair Oaks Boulevard? Well, Mike, if we can swing it around here, so I’m standing right at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Fairwood Way, and so we’re going to look the opposite direction of where we are. That’s looking back towards Hollister Avenue. And so if you’re driving down Fair Oaks, you’re going to Encounter this roadblock right at Fairwood Way. If you turn left at Fairwood Way, you’re ultimately going to get to *** dead end, have to do *** U-turn, and then come back here and go back to Hollister. So the way to get around this is take Hollister. To Lincoln, to Dell, or vice versa, Dell to Lincoln to Hollister, because this is *** scene that will likely be blocked for quite some time, hours. Brian, yeah, it looks like *** very busy pole, Mike. Thanks for that live update there with, uh, Fair Oaks Boulevard closed. We’ll keep an eye on it as, uh, you can see that they haven’t even started the work. They’re probably gathering the materials right now to replace that pole.

A busy Sacramento County roadway is blocked as crews work to replace a utility pole that was sheared off by a vehicle that crashed into it, leaving wires down on the road.Officers with the California Highway Patrol can be seen turning drivers back at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Dell Road in the Carmichael area. CHP traffic logs indicate a truck hit a utility pole around 4:30 a.m. and then took off.The top half of the pole is being suspended by the lines and wiring, while the bottom half is dragging wires to the ground. Officers with the California Highway Patrol can be seen turning drivers back at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Dell Road in the Carmichael area. CHP traffic logs indicate a truck hit a utility pole around 4:30 a.m. and then took off.
The top half of the pole is being suspended by the lines and wiring, while the bottom half is dragging wires to the ground. Internet and cable in the area are down as a result.
