A 63-year-old Long Beach woman who disappeared while riding a dirt bike in Adelanto a week ago was found dead Thursday, July 16 in a remote desert area, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Julie Elizabeth Goforth was last seen around 10:20 a.m. Friday, July 10, while riding dirt bikes with a friend at the El Mirage Dry Lake Off-Highway Recreation Area at 20471 Mountain View Road in Adelanto.
Goforth became separated from her friend after she decided to return to their vehicle to rest, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. When the friend returned to the vehicle, Goforth was gone. Authorities previously said Goforth was considered at risk because of the extreme heat and the possibility she did not have water.
The circumstances surrounding Goforth’s death remain under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details.
The Sheriff’s Department thanked members of the off-highway vehicle community and others who assisted in the search.
