Finding a place to dance to incredible tunes, without a cover charge, and plenty of fresh air, and a beer garden, too?

There’s no need to scroll through a ton of tips: Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Sunday Sessions is bringing an energetic afternoon celebration to the Downtown Los Angeles destination, and everyone is invited.

And if you love house music? This is a true treat: The “evolution” of the scintillating style will be the guide for what is getting people moving on the dance floor.

“The history of house music can be traced back to an era when marginalized communities gathered not only to dance, but also to provide mutual support and find solace during tumultuous times,” shared the Music Center team.

“The dance floor was a blueprint for shared resources and lasting wellbeing; this year’s ‘Sunday Sessions’ will continue that spirit.”

Picnic, visit the Maker’s Market, and dance at Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Sunday Sessions on July 19 and Aug. 16.

DJ collective Baile World will helm the vibrant tunes on July 19, with both Latin House and Tribal House music adding to the atmosphere, as well as “… Caribbean influences from reggaeton to dance hall.”

Nearby, the Maker’s Market will be the spot to shop for handmade art, wearables, jewelry, and more; chatting up the people behind the treasures is part of the pleasure.

A beer garden will add to the social-ready scene but do keep in mind that you’ll need to be 21 to enter.

And packing a picnic? You absolutely should, if you want to make a day of it. Or, rather, an afternoon and evening; Sunday Sessions begins at 3 p.m. and wraps at 8 o’clock.

There’s one more Sunday Sessions to go in 2026, after the July 19 party concludes: Be at Gloria Molina Grand Park on Aug. 16 for another complimentary gathering, one that embraces the Music Center’s “Summer of Dance” spirit.

The Aug. 16 event “… celebrates the foundational Black and LGBTQIA+ roots of house music curated by L.A.-based DJ and producer Terrell Brooke of TheyHouse, a premier DJ crew highlight the genre’s history and current pulse.”

No ticket or reservation is needed for either celebration, but do let the Music Center know you’ll be there by RSVPing at this site.
